These 17 folders contain archival photocopies of newspaper clippings from 1939-1945 which Ira M. DeLong collected in a scrapbook. They were copied to preserve and improve the accessibility of the information they contain. The articles cover most aspects of the municipal government and socio-economic affairs of Boulder, Colo., during those years. These newspaper articles from the Boulder Daily Camera and the Boulder News-Herald discuss such issues and events as the quality and supply of milk and water, the incidence of childhood diseases, the election of city council members et al., Boulder's domestic war effort, the provision of municipal services, the activities of city officials, and many other issues and events of the period.

Dr. Ira M. DeLong was closely involved in the government of the city of Boulder, Colo. He was active in the establishment and operation of Boulder's city manager form of municipal government, which was somewhat of a novelty at the time. DeLong was president of a 23-member commission that drafted the city charter and constitution in 1917.
